WELCOME LETTER FROM THE FORUM HOST

I am pleased to welcome you to Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Future Minerals Forum.

Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Future Minerals Forum will convene the global mining industry and those invested in its future to a conversation about the regions encompassing the Middle East, North and East Africa and Central Asia, their potential to attract investment and grow the sector in line with international sustainability standards.

We meet at a pivotal time for the industry as it faces up to the gulf between supply and demand for the metals the planet needs to decarbonize. But here in Saudi Arabia, and across the region stretching from the Congo to Kyrgyzstan, we can be the catalyst for change. With vast, largely unexplored and untapped resources, we can supply the critical minerals that will deliver the transition to cleaner energy, more sustainable transport and a low carbon future.

The Forum offers the opportunity to discuss financing the establishment of this modern, responsible mining industry in a new and emerging mining hub. In addition, it will provide you with an in-depth look at the legal frameworks in place, access to land, the role of government, ease of doing business, as well as investment opportunities and challenges. It will also enable future looking discussions about mining at a global level with opportunities to explore the latest thinking and advances in the mining technology and equipment that will build the foundations of resilient mining ecosystems.

The Future Minerals Forum 2023 is your opportunity to be at the forefront of change in a dynamic mining region. Together we can create a reimagined mining industry for the future.

I invite you to explore with us how you can play a part in that future.

Sincerely,
Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef
Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources
